It's History!

Well, it looks like "The Sweater" is history. The new owner is a gentleman from Bohemia (imagine that) named Norm Senkyr. He is married to Laura who is the mom of Gary Orme, Tom Orme and Connie Orme Barnett. He's not completely sure what he will do with "The Sweater", but he has mentioned putting it in the Montgomery County Historical Museum. We really do need a TROJAN exhibit, don't you think?

A big thank you to all who have visited this blog and supported this effort. Our first project as an up and coming Trojan Alumni Association helped the First Church of God to reach a miraculous goal $900,000 - more is still coming in. It's an amazing sum of money - the result of many, many sacrificial gifts.

Hurrah for the Purple and Gold!!!!

Homecoming was always fun. Those yellow football mums with the purple M were just the thing. Speaking of football, I took my grandkids to the playground located on what was formerly Jones Field. We walked up those familiar concrete steps and I almost could smell the popcorn at the concession stand. They played on the run down playground for just a while and then decided to leave after being attacked by bees. Not a good experience. Gee, maybe someday, we Trojans could make an improvement there. Hurrah for the purple and gold!

Class of '45

See anyone that looks a bit familiar?? These MSHS graduates will be turning 83 sometime this year. And yes, I bet most of them can still sing the fight song with no hesitation. How about you?

MSHS '69-70 Cheerleaders

Here we are - the 1969 - 70 cheerleaders. My young friend at work giggled when she saw the picture and said: "Boy, you sure didn't show any skin!!!" Yep, we are wearing our wool culotte jumpers. We thought they were great. Would love to have some of your pictures on the blog too. Remember to PIF (pay it forward).

Hi! I'm Beverly (Amburgey) Kendall, and the picture you see posted above is my "vintage" cheerleading sweater. It's still in great shape except for one small moth hole.

It is in my heart to give away the sweater by means of a drawing. Uniting Trojan alumni together for a purpose is also a wish of mine. I would love for us as a group to leave our mark on Montgomery County youth, not in retrospect, but in regard to the future. The first opportunity is awaiting us, I truly believe.

For the past 20 years, my family has attended the First Church of God, commonly known as the "big church" here in Mt. Sterling. We are currently in a campaign correctly titled "Worth It" to build a new youth ministry building. Click here to read more about this venture. There is a deadline we are working with. If you know anything at all about me, you know that I am always late. :( The campaign officially ends on Sunday, April 25. Plans are to have a Trojan gathering on Saturday, April 17 where we'll draw a winner for the sweater, enjoy a time of fellowship, and announce the total of our gift for this student ministry center.

I also invite you to share your MSHS Trojan memories by replying to this and other posts. My hope is that "The Sweater" can serve as a catalyst both to help us remember and to help us consider the way we can "pay it forward" for Montgomery County youth.
